Designed for young professionals, university students and recent graduates, the program helps build participants’ understanding and leadership skills relevant to engagement between Australia and Japan.
Through the generous sponsorship of AJSV member organisations, the AJSV manages Australia-Japan educational exchange scholarships for Victorian high school students who would otherwise not have the opportunity to visit Japan. This program has proven to be an enduring and rewarding experience for young students and their families, and an important part of the AJSV’s mission at the “grass roots” level.
The Asia Pacific Children's Convention (APCC) held in Fukuoka each year was created in 1989 during the Asia-Pacific Exposition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Fukuoka City. The long-standing association between AJSV and APCC goes from strength to strength. Each year Victorian Primary School students join over 200 children from countries in the Pacific region to promote peace and understanding across cultures. Children from Japan also visit Australia as an extension of this program.
