    The Japan Program at Melbourne University is presenting a public screening of 'Fallout' at 6.15pm on 6 August at the Carillo Gantner Theatre in the Sidney Myer Asia Centre.

    The film, which is an Australian feature length documentary, recently screened in Hiroshima, Kyoto, Osaka and Nagoya on the invitation of the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation. Please see the flyer below for this event in Japan.  'Fallout' was winner of the ATOM (Australian Teachers Of Media) award for Best Documentary History, Social and Political Issues.

    The screening at Melbourne University, which is free and open to the general public, is being presented as a dedication to the 70th Anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.  There will be a Q & A discussion that will follow after the screening.

    The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is an internationally recognised test held each year world-wide. The 2015 test in Melbourne is administered for the Japan Foundation by RMIT University. The JLPT is open to people of all ages and the tests provide for assessment in different levels of Japanese language ability.
    The 2015 JLPT will be held in Victoria on the 6th of December.

    The International MANGA Award was established in May 2007 upon the initiative of the then-Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Taro Aso with the aim of awarding MANGA creators who contribute to the spread of MANGA culture overseas and international cultural exchange through MANGA. The award has been held every year since its establishment.

    Applications are now open for the Victorian State Final of the 2015 Japanese Language Speech Contest.

    The contest, organised by the Japanese Language Speech Contest Victoria Inc., the Consulate-General of Japan in Melbourne and the University of Melbourne, will be held on Sunday, 13 September. The four division of the contest are High School Senior Division, Open Beginner Division, Open Division and Background Speaker Division.
