Matcha, the powdered green tea used in Chanoyu, the Japanese Tea Ceremony is currently booming in popularity throughout Japan and the rest of the world. This workshop will introduce you to the spiritual heart behind the fad and give you the essence of knowledge to begin integrate it into your life.
Chanoyu has been ever so slowly evolving for 800 years and a proper chaji (Tea Ceremony) takes about 3 years to learn and once you’ve learnt it, 5 hours to perform. That level of dedication is a serious undertaking. This 3 hour workshop will give you the very first, fundamental skills to make and drink a bowl of matcha.
The workshop will cover:
The history and production of matcha.
The fundamentals of making and serving a bowl of tea.
How to handle and care for your equipment.
How to select and store matcha.
