Born in Takamatsu, Japan, Ayako Uehara became the focus of international attention after becoming the first woman and Japanese to win the First Prize in the piano division in the 12th International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, 2002 and prior to that the People’s Choice Award at the 2000 Sydney International Piano Competition.
As part of the 40th Anniversary National Recital Series of the Sydney International Piano Competition Australia, Ayako Uehara will perform in Melbourne.
