Barefoot Bounenkai – Bowled Over!
By Simon Peake
Melbourne turned on a magnificent summer evening for the Barefoot Bounenkai event held at the City of Melbourne Bowls Club, Flagstaff Gardens, on Wednesday 7 December. The final AJSV event for the year provided the perfect opportunity for members to kick off their shoes, enjoy a cold drink, and challenge each other to a friendly game of lawn bowls. A game requiring a certain amount of skill, it was great to see everyone having a go regardless of their individual ability.
It wouldn’t be a celebration of the festive season without great food, and members were treated to a succulent roast dinner with all the trimmings, Christmas crackers and festive table decorations. After refuelling it was time to return to the green to bowl a few more ends as the sun went down over the Flagstaff Gardens.
As the evening drew to a close, AJSV President Ross Ciaravolo took the opportunity to thank the AJSV Committee and volunteers for their contribution over the past twelve months, and there were some fantastic door prizes provided by Madman, Kaiteki, Cape Grim Beef and Angel Soap.
Bounenkai is party of our program of konshinkai bi-monthly professional networking. Save-the-date for our February 2017 summer konshinkai special event.
Stay safe over the festive season, and we’ll see you in the New Year!
