Japan and Australia share an economic and political link, but their social and cultural relationship is built through sister-city exchange. The sister city relationship grows links between local schools and businesses, and gives a voice to tolerance and multiculturalism.
Friday July 23, the Australia Japan Society of Victoria, in association with City of Melbourne, hosted the Sister Cities Discussion Forum. Attracting delegates from a diverse range of organisations, including Monash University, CLAIR, the City of Hobsons Bay International Friendship Association and the City of La Trobe, as well as interested individuals, the forum’s open discussion was a valuable opportunity for anybody interested to have a hand in developing a more strategic and effective sister-city exchange.
