JETAA Vic/Tas/SA kindly invited us to participate in this year's Big Bento Lunch.
March 11 is the fifth anniversary of the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan. To commemorate the disaster and raise much-needed funds for the Taylor Anderson Memorial Fund, Big Bento Lunch encourages people to get together for a Japanese-style lunch and collect donations. It's as easy as getting your colleagues, family, friends or school together and hosting a bento lunch between March 1 and 31. Last year, Big Bento Lunch raised more than $2000 for Playground of Hope, in 2013 raised $7000 for the Save Minamisoma Project, and in 2012 raised more than $15,000 for UNICEF’s work supporting children in the affected regions of Tohoku.
This year they are proudly sponsoring the Taylor Anderson Memorial Fund. Taylor Anderson was an ALT working in Ishinomaki at the time of the earthquake and tsunami and sadly died while helping her students to safety. All moneys raised during the Big Bento Lunch 2016 will support projects in Ishinomaki.
Details of the Big Bento Lunch can be found in the below email that was sent out to our members this week.
